Our Attorneys

Ms. McDowell has 11 years experience in the practice of law. During that time, she has worked in the areas of debt relief, family law, criminal law, and many other areas.

Ms. McDowell received her B.A. in Communications from Michigan State University in March 1990, and her J.D. from the Valparaiso University School of Law in May 1994.

Prior to joining Mr. McPhillips at the Apple Street Law Office, Ms. McDowell was a prosecuting attorney in the Barry County Prosecutor's office and was Chief Assistant Prosecutor from 1998 to 2001.

In addition to the duties of her private practice, Ms. McDowell is the Hastings City Attorney, and is also the attorney for the Juvenile Drug Court, a position she has held since May 2004.

Ms. McDowell served on the Barry County Zoning Board of Appeals from 20021 to 2003.

In addition to the practice of law, Ms. McDowell taught Law Practice and Trial Workshop as an adjunct professor at the Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan from 2000-2004.

Ms. McDowell lives in Hastings with her husband and two children.
